Frequently Asked Questions

What should I look for when choosing a roofing company?

We highly recommend doing some research before signing a contract, especially in Edmonton’s saturated roofing company market. Check that the company is insured under WCB and has proper insurance. Ask if there is a company-wide safety program and how they keep everyone safe while working on your property. Having your roof done by a company that is a certified product installer is smart. When it comes to your estimate, make sure it is thorough and they are able to answer your questions with ease and plenty of knowledge. Shamrock Roofing has 50 years of local experience, product knowledge, and installation certifications, all the better to answer your questions and create peace of mind with every solution we provide & recommendation we make.

Why is ventilation so important?

Proper ventilation offers many advantages to your home. Making sure you have the right amount of intake and exhaust vents are important for the longevity of your home. Ventilation helps regulate temperatures in your attic, which ultimately contributes to the overall temperature moderation in your home. Proper air flow throughout a home can result in an energy usage reduction, saving you energy costs every month! Roof vents also prevent condensation & excess moisture pockets (two issues that often lead to bigger problems!) in your attic.

How long will my new asphalt shingles last?

When done properly, the average asphalt shingle installation lasts between 25 – 35 years. Regardless of the brand or material specifics, there are a number of weather factors – sun exposure, snow / ice builds up, high winds – on the prairies to keep in mind when considering the life expectancy of shingles. We would transparently discuss any other factors on your specific property with you during your estimate.

What type of warranty comes with Shamrock Roofing?

Shamrock Roofing has a 10-Year Workmanship Warranty. We tend to be quite generous with small fixes as well.

How long does a roofing installation take?

The average time for any re-roof of any home in Alberta is 2 days. There are two main factors that impact the timeliness of a job completion: weather conditions and worksite specifics. We are often at the mercy of Mother Nature and rain, snow, extreme temperatures, and high-wind conditions may impact our ability to complete a roof in two days. Similarly, some worksite specifics, such as 2-story homes or steep pitches, may require additional safety procedures or manpower and this could impact installation time.

Is my roof something I might be able to hold off on replacing for a few more years?

It really depends … Each roof has different needs and the costs to replace your roof will change annually. We value honesty and are transparent in our estimates and inspections.
